Extremely heavy rainfall to continue for 48 hours in Telangana

Hyderabad: With monsoon remaining active, Hyderabad has been receiving incessant lashing in the form of moderate to heavy rains, since Friday evening.

The city which woke up to rains on Saturday saw Charminar recording a rainfall of 31.8 mm till 5 pm, followed by Asifnagar (30.8), Madhapur (26.5 mm), Bahadurpura (25.8 mm) and Khairatabad (24.8 mm), according to Telangana State Development Planning Society.laces over Telangana.Though the intensity of monsoon in Hyderabad is not on par with some districts of Telangana, there has been continuous rainfall in several parts. The average rainfall in the city recorded at Begumpet monitoring station on Friday was 22 mm.

During the last 24 hours, Rajendranagar recorded the highest rainfall in Greater Hyderabad at 34.5 mm. In the State, Manakondur in Karimnagar registered extremely heavy rainfall of 274.8 mm. This apart, parts of Warangal Urban, Warangal Rural and Siddipet registered extremely heavy rainfall (above 204 mm) while many districts witnessed very heavy rainfall.

The impact based weather forecast issued by the Meteorological Department, Hyderabad said that there would be water pooling on roads and low lying areas in Hyderabad on Sunday. It has suggested municipal corporations of Hyderabad and neighbourhood to issue necessary advisory for displaying the warnings on prevailing rains.

Met department’s weather warning said that heavy is very likely to continue over Telangana in the next two days, following a well marked low pressure area over north coastal Odisha and adjoining areas of northwest Bay of Bengal and Gangetic West Bengal.
